That was then and this is now.
For me, I’m glad they broke that promise. I think the F-35 was really the only way they could go, given previous investment, economy of scale, and industrial benefits. Not to mention it’s a top-shelf warplane with multiple role capabilities that’s inter-operable with those of our allies.
So if we’re going to buy planes, I think these are the ones to buy.
Also, Trudeau remembers how Boeing went after Bombardier maybe five years ago. Though nobody would admit to this, it was a thing. There was no way Boeing was going to get that deal. That’s as political as it gets.
Nevertheless, the Lockheed-Martin F-35 is in a different class from the Boeing F-18A Super Hornet.
