In what is likely a first for me, I’m going to gush on a library, and more specifically, the one on offer here in Renfrew, Ontario.
I come by the topic honestly.
After seventeen months of retirement from my day job, I gradually rediscovered something that once occupied a good chunk of my personal time, that being reading for pleasure.
Lord knows I read a lot of stuff, always have in fact, but in the past much of it had to do with professional responsibilities associated with my day job. And while I inherently love to read, sometimes it was a chore.
Since retirement, I now read what I want, and that will include fiction, biographies, auto or not, and stuff more or less of a historical nature.
I’ve re-discovered the Renfrew Public Library in a big way these past several months, and frankly the place and the people in it have been a god-send. It’s like after a while, they know your name, the type of stuff you read, and offer suggestions that prove to be right on the money.
It’s sorta like when you walk into the Beer Store and there’s a 2-4 of Bud Light sitting on the roller just waiting for you. Like, that’s customer service writ large. To be honest, I think it’s a better look at the library than the Beer Store.
Anyways, I just want to thank the people at the Renfrew Public Library for the assistance they’ve provided to me and all their other members. It’s friendly, knowledgeable, and non-rushed, like they have a real eagerness to help you out.
I feel very fortunate to live in a town that has a library as current and as robust as this one, and a terrific staff to go along with it.
