Russian ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov made me spill my coffee this morning.
In a Russian-language interview, Stepanov claims that Canada is a “very dangerous place” for Russians, who he claims face racism at every turn.
Moscow has issued a travel advisory for any citizens hoping to travel to Canada. I don’t know if such travel is even allowed, although it might be for Russian intelligence officers and useful idiots. The advisory warns wide-eyed Russians to be watchful for “street gangs” and a “rather harsh climate.”
My goodness, if everyone was looking for “street gangs” and “rather harsh climate,” they could just stay in Russia. Russia has those things in abundance.
It begs to laugh.
Russia has their street gangs too, the largest being the police. Russia is a police state. Always has been. Always will be.
As to their climate, if Canada’s climate is harsh, then Russia’s is unforgiving.
Canada dangerous for Russians? That’s highly debatable.
The most dangerous place on earth for a Russian is Russia itself.
