TRUMP WARNS OF “BEDLAM” IF CONVICTED OF CHARGES

“If you want to get to President Trump, you’re going to have to go through me, and you’re going to have to go through 75 million Americans just like me.
“And I’m going to tell you, most of us are card-carrying members of the NRA [National Rifle Association]. That’s not a threat – that’s a public service announcement.
“We will not let you lay a finger on President Trump. Frankly, now is the time to cling to our guns and our religion.”  Kari Lake

Yesterday, after what was, for him, a horrible day in court, Donald Trump warned of bedlam ensuing if he is found guilty and convicted of the several charges arrayed against him. Now, I don’t know what bedlam might look like in Trump’s mind, but this is a guy who felt his ginned-up attack by supporters on the Capital January 6 was nothing more than a tourist excursion by some very nice people, people he happens to call patriots. I’m not sure I can recall a time when tourism was equated with patriotism, but there it is. What bedlam might entail when compared with that, something that was a full-on insurrection with violence and threats of hanging, is nothing short of mind-boggling.

In other words, if you convict me, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

If this isn’t a naked threat of a larger insurrection I don’t know what is. And it brings to mind the words of failed Arizona gubernatorial candidate and general all-round loser Kari Lake when she promised vengeance from American gun owners if Trump is convicted. Lake, of course, is another one of those “dedicated” Christians who is the complete antithesis of what Christianity is all about. She is also desperate to be named as Trump’s running mate and, gasp, possible future vice-president. So she tends to spit out shit that will make her hopefully future boss happy.

Lake’s comments are an act of sedition, conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch. Trump’s comments are seditious as well in intent, but he, of course, would claim that he meant something else, and why do people always take what he says the wrong way? Blame the media, blame Joe Biden, blame Santa Clause, whomever.

Both statements are a call to arms, a call to bring insurrection against the legitimately elected government of the United States of America. In many countries, this kind of thing can get you a spot in prison or working in a gulag north of the Arctic Circle. In other countries, it can get you dead. Sometimes both.

Every time this asshole opens his mouth he seals his fate even more, and make no mistake, this guy is going to jail. I know it seems like such a thing would be impossible as the American legal system crawls through its arcane processes, but this dude is going to be wearing a jumpsuit to match his hair soon enough. Put it this way. As Chris Christie said of him, he won’t even be able to vote for himself, as convicted felons are denied the right to vote.

Make your threats, big-boy.
